After 3 years of existence and more than 1.6 million hits, we have reached a stage where there are around 3000 daily hits on the site from all corners of the world. This has validated our belief that death metal is still very relevant to those who are truly into this music, and we like to believe that we have been able to contribute in some way by helping people discover new bands and great albums (the poll results say so!).
But now we feel it's time to contribute even more actively and responsibly. From now on, our efforts shall be focused on helping you discover new and small bands whom you might not be aware of, and also encourage the actual purchasing of CDs of the bands you love.
What this means is, DMI shall now only feature demo/promo/album material either directly received from bands, or material which is already available on the band's site. We shall soon start reviewing albums, and provide links to where the albums can be purchased from. This might not make some of our visitors very pleased, but we hope that the majority of you will understand and continue to support us, and more importantly, support the musicians who really need and deserve it.
DISCLAIMER
DMI features only demo/promo/album material received directly from bands/labels or material which is already freely available on popular streaming platforms. If you wish to promote your band here please send a mail to: deathmetal.invader@gmail.com

Say good bye to those 3000 daily hits. The only reason people come here is to snag up good metal albums, which you do very well. Unfortunately, there are not enough good local bands to produce the same kind of page visits.
Other bigger blogs have tried. They failed and are back to their warez ways.
You will be too.
Sure, we are ready for a drop in the daily hit rate. That has already been taken into account while making this decision, so that is not a factor for us to worry about.
Пиздец нахуй блядь... пидорасы ёбаные, испоганили такой хороший блог. Уёбки иностранные.
Don't worry about what these guys say. Their just ungrateful, and probably never go out and buy albums. There are hundreds of other blogs out there that allow us to download music, so this should be a good change in pace for DMI.
An interesting idea, I will miss the "big" album releases but I suppose there are many other places to get them.
I hope for some cool new music...
Good move. There indeed are tons of other warez blogs and those bashing you now probably never bought a single album anyway. Looking forward to discover new interesting bands!
these people saying shit fail to realize all the "big" bands were once local as well.
Bands earn more money by touring then by releasing a new album. It's the labels who gain the most by bringing out a new album for a band.I already here sounds from bands that they don't care if their album is on the internet. As long as people buy it afterwards, but especially come to their shows, they are fine with it( for example behemoth). Looking in a financial way the downloading has a pro for it's downloaders but a con for the makers of the music. On the other hand,if you are able try something out,you are better capable of making a right decision in buying it or not.No one wants to buy a cd which they want to throw in the carbage after listening to it once.
But oke, I'm looking forward to some newer music from small unknown bands =)
To me this is great, actually. I'll be looking forward in hearing some less famous and undiscovered bands. Thanks for all the work so far!
I'm mixed about this decision. True that without your site I wouldn't have been exposed to much of the music I enjoy now. At the same, I came here for the latest and greatest of the bigger bands as well. I'll still come, so thatnk you.
"Don't worry about what these guys say. Their just ungrateful, and probably never go out and buy albums..." MY ASS!!!!
DMI is dead!!! There's nothing more to say about it. I've been here since 2006, and bury the past will be a unforgivable mistake.
This speaks good about you guys (DMI). As long as you keep the same attitude over and over again, the same escence of the site, you won't have a problem, you'll still have an awsome blog, cause you've been building it up for years, and you have a lot of true followers that will understand. I will keep coming of course, there's a lot of new bands always coming out that compete with the big old ones. So there, good luck in your new approach everyone, everything will be fine.
..a good choice, to promove new and underground bands it's very great! ...but without a selection of celebrated bands...this blog is doomed to die...it's only the pure reality....
Care to link us to a death metal warez site, anyone?
published a zine for 3-4 years, until it became too expensive to publish, not to mention that, but also only a selected few individuals wanted to pay for an issue. I usually sold them for 1-2 dollars an issue, but at one point I even tried given them away, but to many people were goo goo ga over Cradle of Filth or Cannibal Corpse to even care what an underground band would have to say. I had fans that waited and waited for my new issue, and to see what bands were going to be interviewed or reviewed in that issue. I supported the underground, I bought demos, CDS, Shirts, and I went to shows. Also, in turn many of my fans of the zine I published supported the underground themselves as well. Often my biggest fans were the bands themselves, the ones that I interviewed and reviewed. The term “The Underground” used to mean something special, but now it’s just a buzz word that a lot people use to make a band sound unique.
Underground music should be hard to find, otherwise how is it underground? If you have a blog that showcases a band’s whole demo, then who will want to buy the Demo?
It’s the whole why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free?
Also why not change the site into a webzine instead of a music blog , or a mixture of the two? Well that’s my take , by the way I loved your old blog
Thanks everyone for taking the time out to write your comments.
As I've said before, it was to be expected that many people who were just looking for free downloads of the 'big' releases will lose interest, but that's fine with us.
This new step is something we felt the need and urge to do, and even if every single visitor deserts us, we'll still do it. But those of you who remain and support us, many thanks to you! Cheers
Metal Invader, tell me something: why not "big releases" + underground stuff???
We used to do that. But statistics observed over 3 years showed that the big releases got downloaded a shitload of times while the underground/unknown bands managed to get only a handful of downloads. We've given away enough of the 'big' freebies, now we just want to focus on the not-so-big.
OK. But I'm here in Brazil, where is very dificult buy your "big releases". Understand???
...Very, Very, very difficult...
Theres a lot of other blogs where you can find "big" releases.
Seems like you guys must have gotten in trouble by the record companies or something. Either that or you don't want to risk it anymore.
That's about the only reason I can think for this move. I refrain from calling people I don't know "stupid", so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But it is a really stupid move.
BTW I've already bought about 6-7 albums because of this site. It has nothing to do with me being a "leech". You guys have obviously pussied out.
I dont like to call people I dont know 'stupid' either, but many of them dont seem to be getting the point here.
There are hundreds of places where the full albums can be found. We were fed up of being just another one of those places. So we decide to feature more of the unknown stuff (demos/promos etc). It has nothing to do with facing action by any label or bands. Its just a direction we wanted to take. If you ask me, the real pussies here are those who have been whining so much after our decision when there still are dozens of other places those same very releases which we wont be featuring shall be put up.
I hardly see 1 or 2 posts on the tagboard saying 'hey that demo was good!'...its mostly people bitching about how they wont get full albums here anymore. The more I see such reactions, the more I feel we did a good thing by stopping the freebies.
emusic, i tunes, and tons more there are plenty of places to buy this stuff. it's not difficult to get the "big" bands. cheap bastards. don't bitch when the "big" bands stop having good production and the booklet is two fucking pages because the label can't afford it anymore. look at what happened to spv, it could also happen to nuclear blast and everybody else. yes,the labels do get most of the money but the bands will get even less than they do now if you don't buy it.
Let the leeches cry. You're doing a good thing.
I do have one little question and hope dmi can be helpfull with it.Do you guys still have a list from the bands of which you uploaded something? Most bands whose album was uploaded here in the past was worth it checking out.You deliberatelly deleted the whole history of the blog even though most links were dead due to a fuck up with rapidshare. Which also erased the names of all bands on this site.
Many thanks if you can give me such a list.It saves some time ,because at least I don't have to click all 27000+ death metal bands on M-A to find those worth it slamming their music in my ears. Not to mention that half the bands there are inactive or dead plus finding music of bands from 1990 which released one album is a pain in the ass and aren't worth it.
So, That huge 36 some odd page list of links that you had up, Are they all dead links now? I still have the list somewhere in my docs, But have not tried any of the links in a while
we dont get c.d's of nile ,behemoth, dying fetus and other metal band the only way we listen and support music is through downloading music from such blogs
1. Nile CDs can get delivered to Mongolia too these days
2. There are many other places Nile, Behemoth etc albums can be obtained from. And fewer places where underground bands are exclusively promoted.
3. Support an upcoming band now, and you will be really happy if that upcoming band makes it big in the future. That's what we're all about now. Dont visit us for the big album releases.
Total support to your idea ....
small bands are a diamond without shine !!!
Good choice !!!
