Stige - Christmorphosis
2009
01. Christmorphosis
02. Reign of Hypocrisy
03. Unjust Life
04. State of Confusion
05. Stige
06. Century's Illness
Origin: Italy
Genre: Death/Thrash
Bitrate: 256 kbps
This Italian band has been around since 2001, releasing two demos in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Their music can be described as mid paced thrash mixed with old school death metal. The songs are tightly played, and while these guys display no sloppiness with their instruments, I feel the songwriting can be improved as none of the songs really stick in my head even after more than a few listens. Their riff structures come together nicely at specific spots (like the thrash-as-fuck riffs at 3:00 in 'Unjust Life') on this demo and I hope these kind of spots happen more frequently in their next recording.

Invidiosus - The Heterotrophic Harvest
EP, Self-released
1. The Heterotrophic Harvest 02:17
2. Skankshank 03:08
3. Involuntary Tracheotomy 04:19
4. Deaf School Fire Alarm 02:03
5. Creature Upon the Preacher 03:40
Total playing time 15:27
Origin: USA
Genre: Death Metal
Bitrate: 192 kbps
This EP starts off with an innocuous instrumental intro, and then proceeds steadily into technical death metal territory. A big Origin influence starts becoming apparent second song onwards with the high pitched vocal delivery and on the 3rd song the guitarist nails down some very Origin-like sweeps and riffs. Guttural 'pig vocals' enter into the picture in song #4, and the technical song structure continues. By the end of this EP, one thing is clear: these guys are definitely a name you need to look out for in the future!
